This week after Deputy Robin Opela’s interview on KOCO Channel 5 News concerning Cancer Awareness the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa sent her a gift in the mail. Deputy Opela was very surprised that PCSO in Iowa took time to send her these heartfelt gifts.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Deputies have a bit of a change to their uniform this month as most are wearing pink badges in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Sheriff Mike Booth said Pottawatomie County is also home to a town named Pink.
The badges were purchased by the deputies themselves, with $10 of the $55 price tag going to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Booth said nearly all of the deputies chose to buy and wear the badges to support breast cancer awareness and support the fight against all types of cancers.
Booth said cancer has touched everyone in some form or another and deputies hope to make a difference.
