A 34-year-old Lakewood man was arrested after authorities say he tried to convince a girl in Oklahoma to send him explicit videos of herself and the girl’s parents contacted police.
Samuel Schwinger, 34, of Lakewood, a registered sex offender, was arrested and charged with production of images/videos of children under the age of 16 engaged in prohibited sexual acts, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.
On Friday, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit was contacted by the State Police Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force regarding an investigation by Detective Steven Sample of the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma. The parents of the girl reported to that department that their daughter had been contacted by someone in New Jersey posing as a young girl and asking her to send explicit videos of herself.
Detective Sample found that a phone number and account for the person who contacted the girl was registered to Schwinger. Police obtained and executed a search warrant Friday evening at Schwinger’s Lakewood home.
Schwinger was also charged with possession of marijuana. He is a registered sex offender currently serving 10 years of probation for a sexual assault out of Cook County, New York.
Schwinger is being held in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
